Summer is here. Well, not officially until June 21st. However, the sun is sizzling my pasty skin so I like to think summer has already begun. While the Korean humidity stifles my skin pores, and the sun’s rays beam into my eyes, there’s two things I desperately need; my chic shades and sunblock. It’s factor 50 for me, anything less and my skin burns like a bushfire and I end up looking like Zoidberg from Future Armour.
So last weekend I made my shopping list, with sunblock and shades pinned near the top, I threw on my clothes, and rode the subway into Seoul.
The first place I went was Innisfree. I ended up buying their intensive anti pollution sunscreen, which I highly recommend. Not only do I burn, but I also sweat a lot. I’ve always had issues where I’ve gone running or cycling and the cream has run into my eyes. All this was mitigated with this sun-stick. I found it sweat resistant and a fantastic sun block.
Before leaving Innisfree, I had a look at the moisturizers. The Innisfree Derma Formula Green Tea Probiotics Cream caught my attention, not because of the green tea properties but because of the probiotics ingredients which I had rarely seen before.
What is a probiotic cream?
Every day, we eat probiotics in foods and supplements to regulate our gut bacteria, which in turn, keeps us healthy. With this in mind, Innisfree have harnessed the power of probiotics from green tea and used them in this cream.
The benefits of probiotics
The role of probiotics is not exclusive to keeping your gut in line, no, they can also help balance and regulate cells on your skin so they can function at 100%. Studies have shown that probiotic creams can help mitigate skin concerns such as eczema, rosacea and sun damage. The ingredient, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate which is not exactly a live microorganism, but the leftover of a multitude of things like the cell wall, and the dead bacteria can be just as powerful as live probiotics. So your skin will reap the benefits. Hurrah.
Why I like Innisfree Derma Formula Green Tea Probiotics Cream.
So after consulting, and talking about my dry skin with the store associate, I ended up purchasing this little moisturizer. And what a brilliant decision it’s been. Since I’ve bought this cream, my skin, which is dry and occasionally plagued with red blemishes has cleared up. Maybe it’s the probiotics, maybe it’s the Phytosphingosine, but whatever it is, it seems like this cream has really helped me.
The Innisfree Derma Formula Green Tea Probiotic cream is rich and refreshingly hydrating. This cream is soft and feels cool as it graces your finger tip. It’s fragrant- free and holds moisture very well. When applying this to my face, the emollient properties instantly hydrates and soothes all the dry patches. It’s lightweight, but heavy enough to lock in enough moisture for it to work. With this in mind, you can use it day and night.
Having tried several moisturizers over the years, I can say for certain this is the best one I’ve tried. One thing that I hate because it can irrate my skin is fragranced creams. But as this cream is fragrant, free, seriously there’s no smell, I don’t have any of these problems.
We know Innisfree like to add aromas to their products, as you might be aware if you use some of their products like the Jeju and Green Tea line. Although they smell good, fragranced creams seem to irrate my skin, so I look for perfume free products. Being fragrance free is a huge positive for me, so this ticks a huge box of what I require.
I try my best to stay away from chemicals such as parabens and sulfates and use cruelty free cosmetics, which this is!
